Agribusiness Committee
This group serves as The Chamber?s voice on issues directly related to agribusiness in the region and coordinates two annual events: Ag Day Breakfast and Auction, a fund raising event for the Association FFA; and Lunch on the Farm, an event to bring the urban and rural business communities together.
Ambassadors Committee
Volunteers from Chamber member businesses make up The Chamber’s
sales and retention team called the Ambassadors. Ambassadors are
active and visible in the area by representing The Chamber at ribbon
cutting ceremonies, Business After Hours, Good Morning Springfield,
new member receptions and other Chamber events.
Business Connections
Committee volunteers organize the Chamber’s annual Business
Connections trade show which features over 100 exhibitors showcasing
their products and services. Approximately 2,200 people attend
Business Connections where exhibitors share ideas, network, meet new
customers, gain exposure, introduce new products and build bonds
that lead to business growth.
Business/Education Partnership
The mission of The Business/Education Partnership of Sangamon County
is to work with the educational community, the business community
and other stakeholders to provide the highly skilled, literate and
productive workforce necessary to support a successful economic
development environment.
Corporate Cup Challenge Golf Outing
Committee volunteers plan the annual Corporate Cup Challenge
golf tournament, Springfield’s largest business outing, held in
July. The outing features Springfield area businesses competing
against one another in a shotgun, scramble format. In addition,
there is a group competition within specific business industries
with four or more golf teams (i.e. accountants, banks, law firms,
etc.).
Development Policy Council
The Chamber’s voice in communicating important transportation,
utility and other infrastructure needs and concerns of the business
community to federal, state and local government. This group is a
part of the new Q5 Initiative.
Government Relations Council
This group of appointed members serves as The Chamber’s
legislative lobbying group. With the primary objective being the
advancement of growth related, pro-business legislation, the GRC
streamlines The Chamber's public policy process as it endorses,
opposes or proposes legislation at all levels of government.
Healthcare Task Force
This group serves to enhance awareness among local business
consumers and providers of health care. They also identify topics
that will foster access to quality affordable healthcare for area
residents, particularly employees of small businesses.
Leadership Springfield
Leadership Springfield is an 8-month series covering leadership
skills and critical issues affecting the Springfield area.
Participants meet community leaders and decision makers who share
their perspective on significant problems and opportunities.
Plae Dae Committee
Plae Dae volunteers plan the Chamber's annual business picnic
held on Lake Springfield. About 500 people attend the picnic which
features good food, beverages and a live band. Proceeds from the
event go toward internal improvements for The Chamber.
Young Springfield Professionals Network
This group engages the diverse, young professionals of the
Springfield area in networking, community service and professional
development opportunities.
